Girls at Queen’s are encouraged to be aware of and understand their responsibilities in the wider world. Awareness and compassion are developed through involvement in community and charity projects, both locally and worldwide.
We focus on language-learning and cultural understanding from Reception upwards, and Queen’s is the only independent school in the north of England to be officially recognised for its excellent work in promoting the study of Mandarin Chinese. Our girls are aware of the wealth of talent that has gone before them from mountaineers and TV presenters to artists, scientists and entrepreneurs. Alumnae regularly return for talks and visits and current pupils benefit enormously from their knowledge, experiences and expertise.
Our recently developed Virtual Boardroom equips each Senior School girl with experiences of business projects with industry mentors and our Virtual Classroom links to classes across the world, offering a global perspective on learning. Our Environmental Warrior initiative offers opportunities to participate in charitable work and partnerships across the world.
Whether raising money for charity through a sponsored run, learning about plastic pollution during Beach School, or building a new school in Borneo, girls are instilled with a desire to want to make the world a better place.
