Fuel individuality and creativity
Our learning-environments encourage risk-taking, cultivate ingenuity and independence of thought, with pupils demonstrating mutual respect for alternative approaches and inspiration.
We will:
- Expand our sector-leading careers service
- Increase meaningful contacts for pupils with our alumni
- Strengthen our innovative industry mentors’ programme, enabling more pupils access to relevant work-experience and authentic commercial projects
- Enhance and develop our creative learning-spaces at both sites
Advance self-initiated project leadership and management
Pupils take ownership of their learning through a stimulating offering of activities designed to foster analytical thinking-skills and encourage confidence through solving authentic problems.
We will:
- Introduce more problem-based learning throughout the curriculum
- Broaden extended project qualifications from Year 12 to Year 6 with a Higher Project Qualification and a Queen’s Project Qualification
- Increase interdisciplinary opportunities with cross-curricular events and learning days
Strengthen digital literacy
Pupils demonstrate confidence and discernment in the use of technology by utilising the best of internet communications, dedicated software, and relevant devices to improve their learning.
We will:
- Extend provision of iPad enhanced learning to Lower School pupils
- Further expand pupils confidence in learning through technology with greater blended learning
- Expand the use of OneNote and other Microsoft tools across all year groups
- Embrace the use of emerging technologies in the classroom
Instil a love of learning
Pupils have a passion for learning, because inspiring teachers support and challenge each pupil through an individualised approach to learning and drive intellectually ambitious scholarship.
We will:
- Reinvent our library spaces as calm places to engross in reading, complemented with exciting digital platforms to capitalise on virtual e-books, journals etc
- Expand our successful academic societies and lectureprogramme and widen access to pupils from other schools
- Prioritise higher-order thinking-skills and our more-able and talented manifestos across all departments and all age groups
Establish innovative and inspirational outdoor learning environments
Through our use of outdoor-learning, pupils readily step out of their comfort zone, adopt flexible approaches, and persevere to achieve novel solutions to problems.
We will:
- Build further on the success of our beach and forest school programmes
- Establish a meaningful area for geography and biology students to develop research skills
- Enable pupils to engage in real-life environmental conservation with projects supported by university and government bodies
