School food is a vital part of life at Queen’s and we work hard to ensure that the girls have the energy they need for their busy school week and are given lots of healthy and tasty choices about what they eat.
School lunches are compulsory. The Queen’s School provides a 'full plate' service in both our Lower and Senior School, allowing each girl to select their main item from the menu which comes accompanied with a carbohydrate item such as a baked potato or pasta, vegetables, and a dessert (fresh fruit is always available as an additional or alternative dessert option).
Menus adhere to the nutritional standards that came into effect from September 2008 and each child has the opportunity to have at least two portions from a selection of seasonable vegetables, salad and fruit with their meal. Bread and water are also always available.
The school works with the very best suppliers to source fresh, sustainable, safe and delicious food. Our kitchens use 95% Red Tractor fresh meat, Freedom Food certified free-range shell eggs, seasonable Red Tractor or GlobalGAP fresh fruit and vegetables, Fairtrade bananas, MSC certified fish and seafood, Rainforest Alliance coffee and all of our cakes and biscuits are freshly baked in-house. All of our soups, cheese, baked beans and all tomato-based sauces are gluten-free.
