The 2024 Sports Awards Dinner was a memorable evening, bringing together The Queen's School community to celebrate the outstanding talent and teamwork of our pupils from Year 5 through to Sixth Form. This event is always a highlight of our school calendar, and this year was no exception.
A Night of Celebration
The Queen’s Community gathered to enjoy a delightful evening filled with delicious food and drinks, as we honoured the incredible sporting achievements of our pupils. The atmosphere was vibrant and filled with pride as we showcased the dedication and hard work of our young athletes.
Inspirational Guest Speakers
The evening featured an inspiring speech from our special guest, Kate Haywood, a former Olympic swimmer and silver medalist in the 2006 Commonwealth Games in the 4 x 100m medley. Kate, who also competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and won bronze medals in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in the 50 and 100m breaststroke, shared her experiences and offered valuable insights into the world of competitive sports. Her achievements, including winning the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year Award in 2003, served as a powerful inspiration to our pupils.
We were equally thrilled to welcome back ex-Queen's girl Alex Johnson, who presented the awards. Alex, a super league netball player for Loughborough Lightning and representative for Wales, recently earned her first cap in a Wales vs Uganda match in the Test Series. It was a pleasure to have her return to Queen's and share her journey with us.
Celebrating Our Athletes
The Sports Awards Dinner was a resounding success, with pupils, parents, and staff enjoying a fantastic evening of celebration. The event provided an opportunity to acknowledge and commend the exceptional sporting achievements of our girls throughout the year.
A huge congratulations to all our pupils who received awards. Your dedication, hard work, and sporting excellence are truly commendable. We are incredibly proud of all your achievements and look forward to supporting your continued success.
The 2024 Sports Awards Dinner was a testament to the strong sporting spirit at The Queen’s School. We are excited to see what the future holds for our talented athletes.
