Celebrating Success and Looking to the Future

Our annual Senior School Prize Giving is always a special day of celebration and recognition for the outstanding achievements of our pupils.

The atmosphere was filled with joy and pride as girls were acknowledged not only for their academic excellence but also for their leadership, kindness, courage, and contributions to the school community.

The ceremonies saw a wide range of awards presented, including subject-specific prizes, House awards, leadership honours, and the prestigious Spirit of Queen’s Awards, celebrating those who have made significant contributions to school life. These awards are a reflection of the holistic education we provide at Queen’s, where our pupils are encouraged to think independently, collaborate confidently, and aspire globally.

Inspiring Words from Alumna Dr. Elizabeth Sutton (Class of 2013)

We were honoured to welcome alumna Dr Elizabeth Sutton '13 back to school again to deliver an inspiring keynote address. Lizzie reflected on her time at Queen’s and shared how the school nurtured her love for biology, leading to her impressive career in scientific research. After completing her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Leicester, Lizzie went on to earn two research Master’s degrees in clinical sciences and musculoskeletal ageing at the University of Liverpool, before completing her PhD in 2023.

She is now a Post-Doctoral Researcher working on the exciting MicroAge II project at the University of Liverpool, which involves growing human muscle tissue for research on the International Space Station—an inspiring journey that began right here at Queen’s. She fondly recalled how her biology teacher, Mrs. Dillamore, encouraged her to pursue her passion for science, and her words resonated deeply with our current students.

A Fond Farewell to the Class of 2024

As the day’s events came to a close, the celebration continued with our traditional Michaelmas Supper, held in honour of our 2024 leavers. This special evening brought together staff and students for one final time before our A-level graduates head off to begin the next chapter of their lives at universities across the UK and beyond. It was a wonderful opportunity for reflection, celebration, and the strengthening of lifelong bonds between students and staff.

We are immensely proud of all our pupils for their hard work, dedication, and spirit. Our Prize Giving and Michaelmas Supper celebrate the achievements of the past year and send off our leavers with our best wishes for the future. Whether in the field of science, the arts, business, or any other discipline, we are confident that the Class of 2024 will continue to make their mark on the world.
