13 students from Years 9 to 13 travelled to Shrewsbury School for the annual ShrewsMUN conference. The team included 10 delegates representing India and Yemen, as well as three students who had been invited to act as guest chairs.
Ahead of the weekend, our delegates had spent a considerable amount of time researching the topics set for debate and their allocated countries' views on them. Their commitment to self-motivation and independence shone through, showcasing their readiness to actively engage in the debates and fully embrace the experience.
Beyond the formal proceedings, ShrewsMUN's ever-popular Saturday night disco provided an opportunity to foster new and existing friendships with students from other schools - another benefit of MUN: diplomatic negotiation over geopolitics goes hand-in-hand with building real-world friendships around shared interests.
The highlight of Sunday's general assembly was undoubtedly the debate surrounding the ad-hoc Crisis Scenario, where our students seized the opportunity to articulate their viewpoints before a larger audience.
In a moment of pride for our delegation, Isabelle in Year 11 was awarded the title of 'Best Delegate' for representing India in the Health and Social Committee, and Simran in Year 11 was 'Commended' for her outstanding performance representing India in the Security Council.
A heartfelt congratulations to all the participants for their dedication and exemplary performance at ShrewsMUN 2024. Your commitment to diplomacy and teamwork has truly made us proud!
