Year 2 had a lovely trip to find out all about the River Dee.
Starting at Caldy Brook to learn about streams and tributaries, the girls then moved on to the wide banks of the River Dee on Sandy Lane, and finally to the estuary at Thurstaston.
They encountered lots of wildlife, from water rats to sticklebacks to moorhens, and studied the current and the source of the river, together with a little map reading.
Once on the beach they also considered whether a whale would be happy living in the River Dee, and measured the length of an average sized Blue Whale, which stunned the girls.
A busy and informative day, and luckily the sun had his hat on!
