Our sixth form art students were lucky enough to receive a lecture from Professor Mark Durden this week on 'the photo book as a genre in the historical setting of photography'.
Professor Mark Durden is professor of Photography at University of South Wales in Cardiff. He is a writer and artist and has published extensively on photography and contemporary art and since 1997 has worked as part of the artists’ group Common Culture. In 2015 he published “Photography Today” with Phaidon.
The girls were also privileged to be able see and handle a number of original photo books from Mark's personal collection, some of which are now quiet valuable. Many of the girls are now inspired to make their own photo books - watch out for them in future art exhibitions at school.
