A group of 28 students and three staff members had a great time exploring Rome for four days during the half-term break. The Classics and RS departments joined forces to organise the trip to the Eternal City, which was a mix of fun and learning.
Immersing themselves in the city's cultural, historical, and architectural riches, a lot was packed into the four days. They explored key sights including the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon, and were quite blown away by their antiquity and monumental scale. They visited the Vatican, got to marvel at Michelangelo's work in the Sistine Chapel, took a tour around St Peter's and a close look at Michelangelo's Pietà, and watched the Swiss Guards in their splendid uniforms.
Comfortably and stylishly accommodated in a hotel not far from the Baths of Diocletian, dinner was had at different local restaurants. Further sampling of Italian cuisine and culture was carried out during free time for lunch. The students were a credit to themselves and the school - in all, the trip was both educational and enjoyable and created happy memories for all.
