Our Year 9 French pupils were able to be part of a French classroom recently without leaving Chester.
The girls took part in a video conference with pupils from a secondary school near Lille using our new Virtual Boardroom.
The girls showcased their excellent ICT skills by showing an iMovie about Queen’s to the French pupils, who were very impressed by our school buildings. Our girls had prepared presentations of themselves and they did not shy away from reading them aloud which led to a series of exchanges in French and English.
Pupils on both sides of the channel were very curious about one another. The French pupils wanted to know if our girls liked wearing uniforms and what their favourite French artist was. They were pleased to hear that it is Angèle, who is actually a Belgian artist who is due to perform in Lille soon. It was lovely to witness the excitement in the room and it was clear that they were having fun whilst using French for a purpose.
Our new Virtual Boardroom provides the girls with real language immersion and we are now planning to have monthly sessions with this school and give other classes the opportunity to meet face to face with French students. An exciting opportunity to bring the French language to life and motivate the girls to continue studying languages.
