Five Year 12 students and Raka in Year 10 participated in the Advanced Level of the UK Linguistics Olympiad competition. They had to sit a gruesome two and a half hour paper and solved very difficult linguistic problems based on obscure languages spoken around the world.
The Advanced Level is the toughest in the competition and the girls scored really well, with Raka classifying in the top 1%. This is an outstanding achievement, more so considering that she was competing against Sixth Form students from all over the country.
Raka will be travelling to Greenwich on the 20th of March to be one of the 18 students to take on Round Two. If she succeeds, she will go on to compete against international students at the International Linguistics Olympiad in Latvia in July. Good luck!
