Over the Easter holidays, our Senior School netballers embarked on The Queen's School's first ever Netball Tour. 33 pupils from Years 7-9 travelled to Marbella, Spain to take part in the Inspire Sport Netball Tournament. Across the four days, the girls took part in a number of training sessions and masterclasses, enabling them to refine and develop their skills in a new environment.
The tournament day saw our girls perform brilliantly, working together as a team, supporting each other, and showcasing the netballing talent of Queen's. Our Year 7 team finished third in a mixed Year 7 and 8 tournament, narrowly missing out on the top two places to Year 8 teams. Our Year 8 team also finished third in a mixed Year 8 and 9 tournament, again only just missing out on first and second place to two Year 9 teams.
The mixed Year 8 and 9 team were unbeaten throughout the tournament and brought home the trophy in the Year 10 competition, finishing the tournament scoring 142 goals and conceding only 10. A special mention goes to Chloe in Year 8, who was awarded Player of the Tournament for the Under 15s tournament.
Not only did pupils have the opportunity to play netball, it was also a chance for the girls to develop new friendships, immerse themselves in a different culture, and show their growing independence and maturity. They had a chance to relax with afternoons having fun with friends by the pool, evenings spent bowling, and even an end-of-tournament disco.
The girls thoroughly enjoyed their tour, with many says it was "the best week ever!". Staff on the trip were immensely proud of how all pupils conducted themselves, demonstrating independence, teamwork and positive attitudes. We (and the girls) hope that this is the first of many netball tours!
