We were pleased to welcome a number of primary schools to Queen’s for a Plastics Workshop led by our Head of Geography Miss Aldridge.
The teams worked together to solve problems and understand more about how plastics affected our oceans and, indeed, the whole planet.
Did you know for example that by 2050 there are estimated to be more plastic in the ocean than fish? A sobering thought and one that shocked the audience.
The groups looked at the challenges environmentalists face to reverse this trend and then set to work creating their own products by repurposing old plastic bags.
