Queen's victorious in debating competition

Our annual Senior Debating Competition involved ten teams from five schools battling it out for The Queen's Trophy.

Debating teams from The King's School, West Kirby Grammar School, Holy Trinity Academy, Upton Hall and Queen's took part in a morning of debates which resulted in a Queen's V King's and Queen's v West Kirby semi-final.

The teams were tasked with arguing for or against the proposition 'This house believes that technology is making people dumber' and 'This house believes that artificial intelligence should replace humans as doctors'. All the teams put forward well researched arguments but it was King's and Queen's that made it through to the final.

The proposition for the final was 'This house believes that we should stop doing science'. Kings were arguing for and Queen's against. It was an extremely close final with both teams impressing the judges with their arguments.

In the end it was Queen's who were victorious and crowned the winning team.

We now look forward to our Junior Debating Competition next month for Year 7-9.
