22 students from Years 10-13 attended King’s MUN, the first MUN conference held at The King’s School, Chester.
Queen's team included both first-timers and seasoned MUNers, and sixth-formers Cora and Anoushka were invited to act as guest chairs of debate.
There was a positive and supportive spirit to the day as everyone got involved actively in the debates. Students from across the region came together around their shared interest in geopolitics and diplomacy.
The keynote speech was delivered via a video recording by Mr Nicholas Hercules, who has worked for the UN including in Afghanistan, Gaza, and South Sudan. In a speech packed with fascinating insights, it was thought-provoking to hear him stress the priority the UN places on bringing everyone to the negotiating table while suspending judgement about the nature of a particular regime.
Well done to everyone who threw themselves into the crucible of diplomatic debate and negotiation! Daisy and Cerys were Commended in their committees, Simran was Highly Commended, and Olivia, Maahi, and Kitty were awarded Best Delegate in their respective committees.
