Year 5 spent a fantastic week at Rhos y Gwaliau for their residential as they all reached out of their comfort zones and challenged themselves to achieve feats they thought were impossible.
The week was packed full of activities, starting with Canadian canoes and paddling Bala lake. On the way back across the lake, the girls turned themselves into a human sail to help catch the wind and allow nature to lend a helping hand. The evening went straight into a high adrenaline via ferrata, climbing round the side of a river gorge.
Soon the next day came and the girls spent the whole day in the underground slate mines - it was a spectacular place, full of history and we even got to experience paddling across an underground lake and more via ferrata.
This was followed up by a day of paddleboarding and sailing, lots of new skills were learnt and lots of tricks attempted on the paddleboards - not all of them successful!
The final morning saw the girls gorge walking which ended up in many of them requesting to slide down waterfalls and be immersed into pools of water. The girls' final reflections revealed how many had discovered they were more capable than they had thought.
Accompanying staff were super impressed with the willingness the girls demonstrated to try everything and to experience each opportunity to the full.
