We are delighted to announce that the Lower School have achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award.
The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
We are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport. Our sporting achievements this year include: ISA U11 Rounders Winners, Chester District Athletics Winners, U11 AJIS cross county winners, U11 Morton Hall Hockey invitational 2nd place, 2nd place at the Chester Schools Netball Tournament, U9 ISA and AJIS Netball plate winners, participation in tennis, hockey, netball and tri-golf festivals, introduction of the Queens' Infant multi-skills festival, Spirit of the Games award at the National Dodgeball Championships, alongside giving all pupils the school opportunity to represent Queens' at a sports event and to compete in a range of inter-house competitions.
Sport teacher at the Lower School Sophie Kiernan said: "As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at Queen’s has been rewarded. I am very proud that we have been awarded the Gold Award, which is amazing, particularly as it is the first time we have participated and applied for the award."
