Over 40 girls new to Queen's Sixth Form 'pushed the boat out' with an exciting visit to the outdoor activity venue The Conway Centre.
The overnight visit to the Anglesey-based centre was a chance for girls to get to know newcomers to Year 12, and also to build new relationships with both staff and each other as they progress into A-level study.
Arriving on Friday lunchtime, girls first faced a series of woodland activities. From collaborative puzzle-solving to conquering physical challenges, the students showcased their teamwork skills right from the start. This immersive experience not only encouraged them to step out of their comfort zones but also laid a solid foundation for the friendships that will support them throughout their A-level studies.
Saturday morning brought an exciting twist as the students undertook the task of designing and testing their own rafts on the Menai Straits. Braving the chilly waters, some even took the plunge to test their creations firsthand, proving their mettle both in adventure and in spirit.
Accompanying these outdoor adventures were insightful presentations from the sixth-form staff, emphasising the academic and personal attributes essential for success in sixth-form studies. This blend of physical challenges and academic guidance underscores Queen's commitment to nurturing holistic development among all students.
Reflecting on the trip, Head of Sixth Form, Mr Wilson, said, "The Conway Centre provided the perfect setting for our students to develop lasting friendships and gain invaluable insights into what it takes to thrive in sixth form. We believe these experiences are pivotal in shaping confident, resilient young women who are ready to tackle the challenges ahead."
The Sixth Form Residential not only marks an exciting start to the sixth form journey for our students, but also sets the stage for a year filled with academic achievement and personal growth.
