45 girls from Year 8-13 and six members of staff enjoyed a fantastic Easter ski trip to Cesana in Italy.
Concerns about a lack of snow in many parts of Europe this year did not affect the Cesana ski region for our trip. Arguably the best access point to enjoy the Milky Way ski area, Cesana offers school groups a great base from which to enjoy their school ski trip to Italy.
The famous ski area is built up from sweeping bowls, outstanding views and slopes snaking through unspoilt wooded areas. Cesana provided a good choice of slopes for all skiers to progress during a week’s skiing. The Scuola Sci Monti Della Luna provided excellent tuition ably lead by Denis, who although popular was no match for young Italian sports therapy student Gianluca! The excellent tuition meant all skiers from beginners to experts were guided through the resort’s best slopes finishing with two wonderful days in Montgenevre.
As expected from a traditional village close to the French-Italian border, Cesana extended a warm welcome to The Queen’s School. For après ski a wonderful pizza evening in a local restaurant and a most delicious desert in a local creperie enabled us to taste the delights of Italian cuisine.
The trip was a huge success with the party enjoying excellent snow conditions and very quiet pistes. Mr Tucker, the party’s leader, said “The students were a credit to themselves and the school whilst skiing in Italy. All of them improved their skiiing dramatically during the weeks instruction, with many learning to ski for the first time.”
