Inter-House Netball
On Thursday 9th February, all pupils in the Lower School took part in a netball-filled day for the annual inter-house netball competition. This involved a inter-house tournament for the junior pupils and skills stations for the infants.
The day started with the Year 5 competition. All girls played brilliantly, trying a range of positions and supporting each other. Dragons came out as the group winners for Year 5 but there was still all to play for. Next up was the mixed Year 3 and 4 competition. For some girls it was their first time playing rotational netball however, they all rose to the challenge and demonstrated super movement and passing. After a closely contested final match, Dragons edged the win in the second competition of the day. The final junior competition was Year 6. Each match was filled with slick shooting, fast paced passing and interceptions galore. The competition was tight and even saw a fantastic final whistle goal from Emily to equalize for Phoenix. With only a few points between 1st and 4th place , Unicorns managed to secure the victory.
The afternoon saw the infant pupils take to the court to earn points for their house team. We played a game of ‘steal the gold’ to begin where the girls practiced their dodging and defending skills. All girls then practiced their shooting and passing skills- showing resilience and great team spirit. All infant girls performed brilliantly and most importantly, had lots of fun!
The final points were counted with a very tight competition. Cressida, Rosie, Lily and Annabelle were awarded the values award for fantastic team work, resilience and determination throughout the competition and Dragons were crowned overall house winners.
The final standings were:
1st - Dragons 💙
2nd - Griffins 💚
3rd - Phoenix ❤️
4th - Unicorn 💛
Football
On Friday 10th February, the Year 6 football team travelled to Platt Lane, Manchester to compete in the AJIS football competition. The girls were extremely excited and this was a Queens’ first as this was the first time we have ever entered this competition.
The first round saw the girls win games against Bury and Merchant Taylors. The final game of the group was against Stockport. It was end to end football with Stockport scoring a final whistle goal to take the win 2-1. We finished 2nd in the group, meaning that we qualified for the cup final group.
The final group was closely contested with all girls performing brilliantly. The first match V Oldham saw Queens take a 4-0 win. The next match against Kings was a tightly contested match - finishing 0-0. The final match was against a strong Cheadle side. The girls fought for every ball and displayed resilience and determination- losing out 2-0. When the points were counted we narrowly missed out on a place in the 3rd place match by just 1 goal on goal difference!
We are incredibly proud of the team work, resilience and super match play on display throughout the competition. What a talented group!

Netball
On Wednesday 15th February, all of Year 4 took a trip to Packwood Haugh to take part in a netball festival. This gave the girls opportunity to play netball matches against new teams and rotate around to try a variety of positions.
Both teams displayed fantastic netball, with both improving as the festival progressed. U9A team came away winning all of their matches and only conceding 3 goals in 5 matches! U9B had a mixture of wins and loses with some fantastic goals and defensive moments. All girls came away beaming and some even found new favourite positions! We are so proud of you all.
Congratulations to Players of the Tournament: Arabella and Olivia!
