Netball
Our U12 netball team travelled to Birmingham to compete in the finals of the Sisters n Sport plate competition on Wednesday 22nd March. This is the furthest any Queen's team have reached in a national competition.
As the girls arrived at the venue, they were greeted with a crowd of family and friends who had travelled to support the team. After photographs had been taken, the girls took to the court to warm up and prepare for the match.
With a game plan set out and the drive to win the trophy, the team had a storming first quarter taking the lead 8-2. Quarter two began with Notting Hill coming out strong, the game was back and forth with the half time score seeing Queens leading 15-5. Queen's dominated quarter three with countless interceptions and defensive pressure- stomping NHES scoring a goal this quarter and extending the lead to 23-5.
The end was near and the aim of the final quarter was to keep possession and extend the lead which the girls did in style, finishing the match 35-7. As the final whistle blew the girls cheered and celebrated with coaches, parents and family members. Queen's were plate winners and awarded the trophy in a final presentation.
Alice in Year 7 was also awarded player of the match by officials. The Queen's family are immensely proud of how you have represented our school and this huge achievement - making Queen's history!
A huge congratulations also to our superstar Year 7 girls who won their semi-final match against Newcastle High School for Girls. They came 54-9 and qualified for the finals! We are beyond proud of their determination, drive and teamwork. Well done to Player of the Match Isabel, and Coach's Player of the Match went to the whole team!
Hockey
As a team who only started playing together three weeks ago, it was a great achievement for the U14s to have made it to county finals. With some tough matches against King's Chester, The Grange and King's Macclesfield, we knew it was not going to be an easy day. However, this team showed us why they deserved to be there and played some excellent hockey in all the matches and were unlucky to not come away with even better results.
In the first game against King's Macclesfield the girls displayed some great defensive resolve and linked it with some great attacking moves and were unlucky to come away with a 2 - 0 defeat. The second fixture of the day saw the girls play the Grange and you could see they were up for it. By linking up some lovely attacking play they managed to score 2 great goals and a well organised defence and a great goalkeeping display meant we won the game 2 - 0.
Finally we played King's Chester, who were competing to win the Championship. The girls gave everything they had and played their hearts out for the full game but were undone by a well drilled King's team and couldn't get the result they all wanted. Another 2 - 0 defeat finished the day but we still came away with 3rd place in Cheshire which is an excellent achievement and we are so proud of them all for stepping up and playing with very little notice.

After a very successful season for the U16s they faced their last big test and had the opportunity to win Cheshire County finals. With matches against Wilmslow High School and King's Chester we expected it to be a tough morning which wasn't helped by the awful weather.
The first game of the day was a tough fought 1 - 0 victor over Wilmslow in which the girls showed some great attacking play and were unlucky to not come away with more goals, they managed to hold on in the final minutes and get the win. Up next was a must win game against King's to come away county champions. The great attacking play for the first game carried over and the girls looked to have gained confidence and managed to come away with a convincing 4- 0 win to finish the season as county champions. A very well deserved title to end a successful season that we will look to build on next year.

Athletics
Congratulations to our U12 and U13 indoor athletics teams who, after winning the Chester and District championship, represented the area in the Cheshire County Finals.
The girls didn't disappoint as they displayed determination and positive attitudes. Several personal bests were also achieved, resulting in Bronze medals for our Year 7 team and Silver medals for our Year 8 team. Well done, girls!
