STEM Success

Bebras

Pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9, plus our GCSE and A-level Computer Scientists, took part in the Bebras Challenge earlier this academic year.

They all gave impressive performances with many of the girls achieving merits and distinctions.

19 pupils achieved the prestigious Gold Award, which puts them in the top 10% nationally and means they will be invited to take part in the Oxford University Computing Competition (OUCC) in March.

Particular praise to Robbi in Year 7, who achieved best in school for the Junior Challenge with a gold award, Bethany in Year 9, who was awarded best in school for the Intermediate Challenge, Annabel in Year 10 for the Senior Challenge, and Cerys in Year 13 for the Elite.

British Physics Olympiad

A group of keen physicists from Year 11 took part in the British Physics Olympiad Intermediate Challenge - an online competition aimed at stretching students beyond the GCSE curriculum and testing a wide range of physics ideas and problem solving skills.

The standard was extremely high and we are delighted that Olivia, Aster, Daisy, Julia, Melita, Annabelle, Alicia and Catrin received Bronze awards and Ellenore, Kitty, Simran, Lotus and Amelie gained Silver awards.

Our Year 12 Physics students competed in the British Physics Olympiad Senior Physics Challenge, an online competition aimed at testing students' problem-solving skills, as well as general physics knowledge and trivia.

The standard was very high and we are delighted that Maisie and Alexa gained bronze awards, Alicia, Kirsten and Abi gained silver awards, and another pupil achieved a gold award.

Our commitment to providing a challenging and intellectually stimulating environment empowers our pupils to not only meet but exceed expectations. These achievements not only reflect the dedication of our girls but also showcase the depth of knowledge and problem-solving skills instilled in them.

We take pride in fostering a passion for academic success at The Queen’s School, nurturing the intellects of our students, and preparing them to thrive in the most rigorous challenges.
