To complement their A-level study into the causes and effects of poverty, Year 13 A-level Economics students attended an exhibition by researchers at the University of Chester at St Mary's Creative Space.
The event was an interactive exhibition of their findings in a study of poverty across the Cheshire West region. Titled "Walking Further Together", it showed the lived experience of poverty, designed to challenge stigma and shape the next steps.
The students had the opportunity to discuss the findings of the research with academics from the university, which highlighted the severity of poverty and its many forms.
Mrs Woodcock said "This was a thought-provoking exhibition which shows how poverty can affect so many people in different ways including food, fuel, health and clothing poverty. It was evident a lot of research had been completed and it also provided signposts to services across Cheshire. I felt it was useful for the students to attend to strengthen our links with the University and also see how academic research can be delivered in a more engaging way. We study the causes and effects of poverty as part of our A-level course, so it was important to see the work that is being done to help this very serious and widespread issue".
