U16 in National Finals for second year in a row
Another amazing experience for the girls at Queen's.To get to a National Finals is fantastic and reflects the hard work put in by both staff and pupils over a number of years. To achieve a second National Final place in consecutive years shows that the work being done in school is certainly going in the right direction. 2020 saw us going to finals with five girls who had played last year and five girls whom were playing at Nationals for the first time. We may not have won but we made huge improvements on last year. This year we went as North winners not the runner up, scored six goals not just one, and all six goals were scored by different girls, three of whom were at national finals for the first time. Both teams in the final came from our group of five which shows the calibre of the group we were in.
Lots of positives and improvements for the girls to bring away and a really pleasing learning experience.
U15 National Cup
We have just about recovered from the tremendous afternoon of hockey as our U15 team competed in the quarter-finals of the National Cup against Sedbergh School. The girls had plenty of support as the majority of Year 10 went along to cheer them on at Upton playing fields. Winning the game would have seen the girl’s progress to the national finals in London but sadly on this occasion it was not to be. The match could not have been closer though! The score was 5-5 at full time and then 0-0 following extra time, taking us to dreaded penalties which we lost. All the girls showed remarkable determination and resilience all the way to the end and should be very proud of themselves.
Chester and District competition
Our U13 team were crowned Chester and District Indoor Hockey Champions, scoring nine goals and conceding none! The girls beat Christleton 3-0 in the semi-final and Kings 2-0 in the final.
County Competition
Our U14 team were crowned County Champions after winning the group games, a penalty shoot-out in the semi-final and then going on to beat Bishop Heber 2-0 in the final.
Athletics
Chester and District competition
A solid performance from our Year 8 athletics team in the Chester & District Indoor Athletics Competition saw them secure first place at Blacon High School. They will now represent Chester & District in the Cheshire Final.
Our Year 7 athletics team also performed brilliantly at the Indoor Athletics competition, missing out on first place by just 5 points to come runner-up.
Lacrosse
A fantastic fast game of Lacrosse against Shrewsbury School this week saw the girls sadly on the wrong side of a 9-8 score. Tantalising skills on display and all the girls performed brilliantly.
Rowing
Congratulations to Mica and Lucy who have been selected for GB rowing trials.
