Earlier this year, Year 5 enthusiastically undertook the challenge to create some striking art work to submit in the Dot-art Schools Cheshire Competition.
Dot-art Schools Cheshire is an online, inter-school competition culminating in an exhibition at Storyhouse, Chester. It is designed to nurture talent and take art out of the classroom and into the real world.
We took inspiration from the artist Peter Thorpe for our space themed artwork; the girls thoroughly enjoyed exploring a range of techniques and media before designing and executing their final piece. They worked extremely hard on their designs and the results were very impressive.
A selection of the girls’ art is now available to view on the Cheshire schools dot-art Web page and you can vote for your favourite. The deadline for voting is 28th April.
Furthermore, three buddings artists from Year 5 have had their work selected by a panel of art experts: congratulations to Gowri, Jenny and Lucy!
The winners will be announced on Monday 30th April and the first-placed entry from each school will be included in an exhibition at Storyhouse in Chester starting on the 8th June.
